"From the moment hair is exposed to color, it changes. It becomes more vulnerable to damage, its natural shine begins to dull, and it takes on a rougher, drier texture. Each of these factors also affects hair's ability to retain color and vibrancy. Pureology is here to protect and help restore what color-treated hair needs most."

Kelly Reardon is Maine's 8th American Board-Certified Haircolorist
Kelly Reardon became board certified in 2016 by passing a very stringent examination given by a committee of peers. The American Board of Certified Haircolorists (ABCH) was established in 1996 by a group of dedicated haircolorists seeking to establish a higher standard for professional haircoloring. Currently anyone who holds a cosmetology license can perform haircolor services regardless of their experience. As a result, many guests leave the salon unhappy and many never return to the salons for repeat haircolor services.
The goal of ABCH is attempting to standardize training and to certify haircolorists around the country. Currently it is the manufacturers who teach haircoloring, resulting in a lack of knowledge about things that can go wrong and the damaging effects that can, and do, occur with the misuse of haircolor. Manufacturers attempt to use unique terms to make their line of haircolor appear to be remarkable. This has resulted in a very fragmented educational curriculum which has not served the haircolor community well. The ABCH on the other hand teaches in generic terms and focuses more on the chemistry and science of haircolor. This results in the haircolorist having a better understanding of what occurs when haircolor is applied to the hair.
